8 ways fit fitness into your busy schedule

It’s not always going to be easy but the good news is, it’s definitely not impossible. As we reach our 20s, 30s and even 40s, we begin to visibly see changes in our bodies, and although we understand the power and value of an active and healthy lifestyle, we keep telling ourselves “tomorrow…”

Some make it a main priority to eat right, do daily cardio and lift weights while others choose to make it a once-a-week monthly habit.But because we’re living in such a fast-paced world, the majority genuinely place the importance of working out on the back burner because well, there’s just not enough time in a day.

In an article provided by greatest.com, the author writes “Work, in particular, can get in the way of working out—in fact, there is a big paradox going on, and it becomes more obvious the more challenging (and exciting!) a job gets: On one hand, we struggle to find time to work out; on the other, we can’t afford to not exercise because it is integral to sustained success.” We couldn’t agree more!

Now I’ve had the opportunity to work with countless amazing clients who have expressed time and time again that feel they CANNOT squeeze in a workout between their 9-5 work schedule, kids, daily household activities, special occasions and the list goes on! In fact, I can very much relate because I too have felt the overwhelming feeling of “24 hours is just not enough hours” but (and this is a good but!) 24 hours is plenty, and as you continue to read on you’ll learn some powerful tricks that I share with my clients and they would agree that these minor little tweaks to your everyday life is a solid game changer!

Are you ready for some killer advice?

Here’s how to fit some simple and effective fitness into your busy schedule, Trainer LT style;

Step #1:Plan it into your schedule. Avoid going off-the-cuff or going-with-the-flow. Make a commitment to yourself by making yourself a priority. Whip open your calendar or pull out your smart phone and section off a time where no excuses are permitted! Sunday’s are great days to setup your week and should only take a few minutes.

Step #2:Start with a short session and build up.You do not need to exercise for 3 hours/day to reap the benefits of working out. Something as little as 10 minutes of activity just a few times per week can still benefit you so drop those limiting beliefs and start taking control of your schedule and your life!

Step #3:Ya don’t need a gym! Begin to incorporate activities such as walking, jogging, hiking or even bike riding as part of family time! Ditch the car keys and throw on your runners and head to a park with the kids where you can play a sport as a family.

Step #4: This tip is vital- stretch in the morning! Take a few minutes every morning to loosen up and stretch. This energizes your muscles and improves your range of motion. Your body will feel revived and a hundred times better as you take on personal and professional activities throughout your day.

Step #5: Lunch break = Walk break! Whether you’re roaming the halls or jetting out of the office to catch a quick lunch break and some fresh air, be sure to get your body moving! Side note: A great trick is to invite someone to join you. It’s easy to say no to yourself, so having an accountability partner (a friend or a co-worker) makes things a bit more fun, easier and helps you stay true to your word.

Step #6: Trade screen time for exercise. If you’ve got some time in between client meetings, boycott lurking your Facebook and Instagram feeds and trade it in for some stretches or a nice brisk walk. You’ll feel lighter and will have much more energy for the remainder of your day.

Step #7: Can’t make it the gym? Hire a Fitness Trainer or an online fitness coach that conveniently comes to you. I’ll bring the weights and any other equipment necessary for your exercise, all you need to do is bring a positive attitude!

Step #8: Set goals and track your results. Wear a pedometer or a fitbit to measure your progress. This will also help you to set new goals while pushing your body to another level.

Now that wasn’t so bad, was it? ;)
